"New York's 500,000 undocumented immigrants are a boon to the city, Mayor Bloomberg declared Thursday — as Congress wrangled over a plan to create a path to citizenship for people here illegally.
“They are contributors to our society, rather than takers,” Bloomberg said as he hosted other mayors at Gracie Mansion and released blueprints for other cities to follow on how to help immigrants fit into urban American life."
