"The DREAM Act is a major component of the 844-page bill introduced by the "Gang of Eight," a bipartisan group of four Democratic and four Republican senators. It would allow those who came into the country before the age of 16 to obtain legal status if they have a high school diploma or GED. Eligible persons would be able to obtain citizenship five years after achieving legal status."
